What makes a good tip for Wochenfokus?
A good tip for Wochenfokus is one that meets the site’s editorial mission: trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues. We prioritise policy developments, public-interest stories, and events with clear Swedish relevance – whether from the Riksdag, the Regeringen, municipal politik, Wirtschaft, economy, culture or society.
Concrete examples include a new law proposal that could affect everyday life, an overlooked trend in housing costs, a municipal decision with national implications, or a cultural initiative that sparks debate. We are less interested in gossip or unverified rumours. If your tip involves documents, links, or public records, please include those – they help us judge the story’s significance and start the verification process.
How can you send us a tip?
You can reach us directly by email. Use tips@wochenfokus.de for story ideas and sensitive information. For general newsroom queries, write to newsdesk@wochenfokus.de. If your tip relates to a press release or media inquiry, send it to press@wochenfokus.de. All emails go to the relevant editorial team.
Please include a clear subject line that summarises the story, a brief description of what you know, and any supporting materials such as documents, links, or contact details for sources. You do not need to write a full article – we handle the reporting. If you prefer to remain anonymous, let us know from the start; we will discuss confidentiality options before you share anything.
How do we verify tips?
Verification is led by Birgit Weiß, our Ansvarig för faktagranskning. She and the standards desk follow a rigorous process outlined in our Fact-Checking Policy. We cross-reference every claim with original sources, seek official documents, and contact relevant parties before publication.
Our Sources & Standards page explains the criteria we use to assess reliability. We will never publish a tip without thorough checking, and we fact-check every article – even those that originate from tips. If a story requires clarification or correction later, we handle it under our Corrections Policy.
What about confidentiality?
We take your privacy seriously. If you submit a tip, we will not share your identity or contact details without your explicit permission. For sensitive tips, we encourage you to use encrypted email or signal (contact us first at tips@wochenfokus.de to arrange).
Our editorial team treats all submissions as confidential during the evaluation and verification phase. Once a story is published, we may need to protect a source’s anonymity – we discuss that with you case by case. The same standard applies if a tip turns out not to lead to a story; we will not reveal that you contacted us.
What happens after you submit a tip?
After you send a tip to tips@wochenfokus.de, a member of the editorial team acknowledges receipt within two working days. The relevant editor – for example, Martin Bergmann for politics, Helena Braun for Wirtschaft, or Patrick Werner for culture – reviews the material.
If the tip meets our editorial criteria, the editor will assign a reporter to follow up. We may contact you for more details or to ask permission to use information you provided. If the tip does not fit our coverage or is already being worked on, we will let you know. We cannot promise every tip leads to a story, but we read each one carefully.
How should I report a correction?
If you believe a published article contains an error, please write to corrections@wochenfokus.de. Include the article headline, the URL, and a clear description of the mistake. Our corrections desk, overseen by Birgit Weiß, reviews each request promptly.
We handle corrections transparently under our Corrections Policy. Significant errors are corrected and noted in the article. We do not delete or alter published stories without a clear editorial reason – corrections are always labelled.
What you can expect from us
When you send a tip to Wochenfokus, you can expect a professional, ethical response. We will read your submission, assess its merit against our editorial standards, and treat your information with care. Every tip is logged, and the responsible editor will respond – even if the decision is that the story does not fit.
We will never use your tip to pursue an unrelated agenda. Our Editorial Policy and Ownership & Funding page make clear that commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. You are helping us serve readers with trustworthy Swedish journalism – we respect that role.
