What do we rely on day to day?
Our reporting is built on primary sources: official documents, public records, direct interviews and verifiable data. We prioritise material from Swedish government agencies, parliamentary records, Statistics Sweden (SCB), and reputable institutions.
Journalists on our team – led by Chefredaktör Oliver Böhm – are instructed to attribute every factual claim to a named source wherever possible. Anonymous sources are used only in exceptional cases where the information is in the public interest and the source faces genuine risk. When we do use anonymous material, we explain why in the article. Our fact‑checking policy requires that each piece is reviewed by a dedicated editor before publication. The fact‑checking team, headed by Birgit Weiß, verifies statistics, quotes, dates and legal references against original records. If a claim cannot be verified, it is either removed or clearly marked as unverified.
We also draw on wire services (such as TT and AFP) for breaking news, but we always add our own context and sourcing. Sponsored content and affiliate links are clearly labelled so that readers can distinguish editorial material from commercial partnerships. How can you challenge our reporting?
If you believe we have made a mistake, you can submit a correction request directly to our corrections team at corrections@wochenfokus.de or via our corrections policy page.
Our corrections policy commits us to investigating every reasonable claim within two working days. When an error is confirmed, we publish a correction prominently at the top of the original article, noting what was wrong and when it was fixed. We do not delete or rewrite articles without a clear correction notice. For more serious concerns – such as potential bias, misleading framing or factual fabrications – you can use our complaints procedure. This is overseen by Chefredaktör Oliver Böhm, who reviews every complaint personally and responds within five working days. If the issue cannot be resolved internally, we explain your right to escalate to the Swedish Press Ombudsman or a relevant media council.
We also encourage readers to tip us about stories, documents or sources that may improve our coverage. Tips can be sent via our tip‑us page and are handled confidentially by the newsdesk.
What can you expect from us
You can expect that every article is written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor and fact‑checked before it goes live. We never publish AI‑generated content without human oversight, and any AI‑assisted tools used in research or drafting are disclosed in our AI and automation policy.
Our editorial mission is to provide clear, practical coverage of Swedish news without spin or oversimplification. That means we avoid clickbait headlines, we label opinion pieces clearly, and we separate news analysis from straight reporting. Sponsored or commercial material is always flagged with the word ‘Sponsored’ or ‘Paid partnership’ at the top of the page. Affiliate links are accompanied by a brief disclosure stating that Wochenfokus may earn a commission if a reader makes a purchase. Commercial relationships never influence our editorial conclusions – this is written into our contracts with partners and enforced by the management of Donau Media OÜ.
We also commit to transparency about our funding. Our ownership and funding page lists all major advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners. No external funder has editorial control over content.
