Wochenfokus (wochenfokus.de) is an independent Swedish digital news publisher, owned and operated by Donau Media OÜ. This page explains how we decide what to publish, how we distinguish different types of content, and how you can hold us accountable. It covers our editorial process, content labels, transparency obligations, and the routes for raising a concern. Everything below is part of our Editorial Policy and should be read alongside our ownership and funding statement.

How does our editorial process work, from pitch to publication?

Every article on Wochenfokus begins with a story proposal from a named writer or an editor, and is assigned by a section editor. The writer drafts the piece, then a dedicated editor reviews it for accuracy, tone, and balance. A fact‑checker (Birgit Weiß, Ansvarig för faktagranskning) then verifies every factual claim against primary sources before publication. No piece is published without a human editor’s final approval; AI‑assisted tools may support research or formatting but never replace that judgement.

The process is the same for all content – news, analysis, features, and opinion – though opinion pieces are clearly labelled as such and carry the writer’s byline. Sponsored content and commercial partnerships follow the same editorial workflow but are flagged with a “sponsored” or “paid partnership” label from first draft. The full policy on commercial material is at our sponsored content policy.

Who is responsible for what we publish?

Oliver Böhm is the Chefredaktör (editor‑in‑chief) and bears ultimate responsibility for editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections. He can be reached at anders.lindqvist@wochenfokus.de. Day‑to‑day newsroom decisions are made by Anna Heinrich, Redaktionschef (karin.bergstrom@wochenfokus.de). Each section has a named editor: Martin Bergmann (Politikredaktör, johan.eriksson@wochenfokus.de) handles national and local politics; Helena Braun (Wirtschaftreporter, sofia.nystrom@wochenfokus.de) covers economy and markets; Patrick Werner (Kultur‑ och samhällsredaktör, erik.holmberg@wochenfokus.de) leads culture and society.

Every writer is named on every article via a byline that links to their profile on our team page. If a piece is updated, the change is noted with a timestamp and the editor who approved it. Neither the publication name “Wochenfokus” nor any editor may be used as a byline on AI‑generated content; human authorship is always disclosed.

How do we distinguish news, opinion, features, sponsored, and affiliate content?

We use clear labels so readers know what they are reading. News is reported without commentary; our story explains that we aim to deliver “clear, practical coverage”. Opinion pieces are marked “Meinung” or “Opinion” and carry the writer’s name; they are not fact‑checked as news but are reviewed for factual accuracy and fairness by the section editor. Features are longer‑form, often with a sidebar or “Hintergrund” tag, and are fact‑checked in full.

Sponsored content is labelled “Anzeige” or “Sponsored” and is produced in partnership with an advertiser but still reviewed by a human editor. Affiliate links – for example in product reviews – are noted with a “Affiliate‑Link” or “Partner‑Link” disclosure at the point of the link. Our advertising and affiliate disclosure page details how we manage these relationships and why they never influence editorial conclusions.

What you can expect from us

You can expect that every piece is written by a named human, checked by an editor, and fact‑verified before publication. If we use AI‑assisted tools – for research, transcription, or headline suggestions – we disclose that in a note at the bottom of the article, and link to our AI and automation policy. We never allow AI to fabricate quotes, sources, or bylines, and we never publish automated content without human review.

We also commit to independence. Our ownership and funding page lists our registered company (Donau Media OÜ, Gibraltar) and our funding sources – display ads, affiliate links, sponsorships, and content licensing. No commercial partner can dictate what we cover or how we cover it. If you see a correction, it will be handled via our corrections policy, and all significant errors are acknowledged on the same page as the original article.

How do we handle mistakes and complaints?

If you spot an error or have a concern about an article, please use the complaints procedure page. You can also email corrections@wochenfokus.de or Birgit Weiß directly at emma.sandberg@wochenfokus.de. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within two business days and to publish a correction or a note of clarification within five working days if the error is significant.

For complaints that are not about a specific fact – for example, if you believe an article is biased or misrepresents a group – you should first raise it with the section editor (listed above). If you are not satisfied with the response, Oliver Böhm (Chefredaktör) will review it. All complaints are logged and, where relevant, used to update our sources and standards guidance.
